Psalty

Last week I was going to write a post about Psalty, the Singing Songbook. Then blogger ate my post. So, I'm going to try again.

Way back in the day, my church did Psalty musicals. Psalty is kind of a Barney/Wiggles type for the Christian world. Only for older kids, like grade school age. According to the website, Psalty is not just any song book. He's a kid's songbook who travels around the world telling kids about how much God loves them.

Psalty is great, but who funds his trips around the world? Maybe it's the DVD sales?

I really enjoyed Psalty musicals. The first one we did was called "A Heart to Change the World". I was Melody one of Psalty's Booklets (aka children).

I was the good booklet, unlike my sister, Harmony who was selfish and didn't want to shrae any of her food with poor needy children. She sang a song that went like this "I'll drink up all the punch and use the bowl to eat my lunch, why should I think about the world? I'm deliriously happy looking out for number one!"

I on the other hand sang about wanting to change the world. See, I told you I was the good one!

The second musical we did was called Singsational Servants. In this one, I was Limburger, one of the Cheeses for Jesus. Here we learned about (duh) serving others. Also starring in this musical, was my dad as Risky Rat, Psalty's nemesis. The evil Risky Rat was trying to talk Charity Churchmouse into a shady recording contract.

The musicals were good times and I had a lot of fun doing them. I got to sing, dance (more like arm and leg movements to music) and wear fun costumes. The message in the musicals was good too.

However, I did not enjoy the music as much as GT and The Halo Express, now that was some good music.
