Today we went to the dog park with Hailey. It's one of the best things we've done for her. She was the smallest dog there, but that didn't bother her one bit. The park is fully enclosed and was great for the dogs. A couple dogs were a bit too aggressive, but most of them were okay. She sniffed a lot and made a few new friends. I wish we had a video camera, because she had so much fun.
It was so clear that we were the newbies. First, Hailey had on her vest. We took that off as soon as we got there because no other dog had on clothes. I had a bag of dog supplies. I was the only one. Next time, we aren't bringing so much stuff!
Then there was my husband. He was so worried about Hailey. It was really cute. He got nervous when she'd get rambunctious with other dogs and he chased her around the park. I was content to watch her from a distance and have the attitude of "she's a dog." Dogs bark at each other. Dogs smell each other's butts. Dogs don't sit to greet one another. By the end of our time at the park, we found a good balance. I wonder what this means about us as parents.
I have never seen her so tired. It is fabulous. We know have decided that we want to go to the dog park twice a week. I also loved that everyone fawned over her. It made me a proud doggy momma.
