On Friday morning, just as I was about to take Hailey for a walk, something by the fireplace got her attention. She just stared at the fireplace and wouldn't move. I had to force her to go on a walk. All Friday night she stared. My husband opened up the vent (it's a gas fireplace) and saw nothing. We assumed it was a fly and that we had a stupid, crazy dog.
I forced Hailey upstairs because I didn't want her to go crazy and my husband stayed downstairs. As he was working on his computer, what did he see? A MOUSE! It was sticking it's head out of the vents. He screamed like a little girl.
So we taped up the vent, bought a trap and withing two minutes *SNAP* the poor field mouse was dead. We then set about taping up the vent (from the inside), so that no more mice could get into our fireplace.
I found out our neighbors also have had mice. They are the cleanest people I know, so our mouse isn't our fault. Thank goodness. I am glad we aren't the only ones with a problem. My husband sees it the other way, he was hoping it was an isolated incident and unfortunately it was not.
At least we know if there is a mouse, Hailey will be on gaurd!
